Translation
This installation paired the video Incubating Home with an accordion book and unpublished manuscript of a war-time novel written by the artist’s father. Conceived in response to an exhibition on the theme of translation, the work entangles narrative and language across three generations. The artist book becomes a site of convergence: within its folds, scans of the father’s handwritten pages are interlaced with stills from Incubating Home and fragments of a fantastical, interplanetary travelogue authored by the artist’s young daughter. Together, these elements meditate on the ambiguities and imaginative leaps that emerge in the act of carrying meaning across time, culture, and kinship.
