Artist Book (Untitled)
A hand-made, three-volume accordion book contact printed in Van Dyke brown. An unpublished manuscript written by the artist’s father serves as a point of departure. The handwritten pages recount the story of a gravely wounded soldier struggling to return home to his mother. As he drifts in and out of a hallucinatory state, tensions build between the north and south and death becomes inevitable. This narrative is visually overlaid by a dreamscape of distorted imagery, conjuring elusive notions of home, extracted from a video work by the artist. Inscribed atop both layers is a fantastical, interstellar travelogue written by the artist’s young child. Together, these strata form a palimpsest of wandering, identity, and the unresolvable longing for return.
